Ran the numbers on my coffee spending after 6 months of tracking

I added up every coffee shop visit from January through June including tips and it came to $847 which is basically a used washer and dryer set from Facebook Marketplace, has anyone else crunched their numbers and found a surprise like that?

I mean I used to think coffee wasn't that big of a deal until I added up my own total and it hit $600.

$600 is pretty rough. I remember doing the math on my morning coffee runs a few years back and it was about $400. Felt like a punch in the gut. It's one of those things that seems harmless day to day, but it adds up fast. Especially if you're getting it from a shop every single day. Hope you can find a way to cut back without giving it up completely, or at least feel better knowing you're not alone in that shock.

My friend Sarah, she's a teacher, did the same thing last year. She had this routine where she'd grab a latte and a pastry every morning before school. One weekend she pulled out her credit card statements and tallied it all up for the past year. It came out to over $700. She actually sat down and cried right there in her kitchen. Now she got herself one of those nice insulated mugs and makes coffee at home. She told me she still misses the shop coffee but saving that money is helping her pay down her car loan faster.
