My buddy's bus pass hack backfired hard in Denver last month
My friend Mike swore up and down that buying a 10-ride bus pass in Denver was cheaper than the day pass if you only took 3 rides. He said tourists never figure this out and it saves like $4 every time. So I listened to him and bought the 10-ride pass for $30 on my trip last month. First day I took 4 rides because I got lost and had to backtrack. Then on day two the bus system went on a detour and I ended up taking 6 rides just trying to get to the museum. I ran out of rides by noon on day three and had to buy a day pass anyway for $9 which made the whole thing a waste. Mike still claims his math works if you plan perfectly but who plans a vacation like a spreadsheet. Has anyone else had a friend give them a travel hack that sounds good but falls apart as soon as real life happens?

Jumped on one of those "buy in bulk" savings for coffee at the airport once and ended up spilling half my bagel sandwich on the last one because I was rushing to use it before my flight. My buddy kept saying his hack was foolproof too but the coffee went cold and I looked like a mess trying to drink it all. Real life just messes up all the perfect math every time doesn't it.

Did your buddy try to claim paper coffee cups are the same as the real ones?

oh man @michaeld48 you hit the nail on the head. I did the same thing with those giant packs of granola bars at the airport once and ended up shoving three in my bag before boarding and they all crumbled to dust in my carry-on. the math says it's a deal but real life just laughs at you.
