inI finally understood the importance of a backup SIM card after my phone got pickpocketed in Barcelona and I was locked out of my work email for a full day.
Depends how much you trust your luck I guess. One backup sim is great until you forget which drawer it's in and you're still locked out.

inSwore I'd never clip grocery coupons until I saw a mom save $47 at checkout in Seattle
Felt like I was getting away with something" is exactly the problem. You're not getting away with anything, you're letting the store win. They design those digital coupons to make you feel smart while you buy stuff you wouldn't have grabbed otherwise. I did the phone reminder thing for two months and ended up spending an extra $20 per trip because I'd see a coupon for "buy one get one free" on some snack I never eat and suddenly it's in my cart. Savings of $32 mean nothing if you've added $40 in impulse purchases. Honestly, I'd rather just buy what I actually need and not play their little game at all.

inThat guy at Gen Con who called out my storage system
Four times now I've seen collectors mention that Crown Royal bags are actually made from the same material as felt sleeves for records, so it's less about the brand and more about the fabric. @jade_jenkins, I think you're onto something about preference though, some people just don't like having a whiskey logo sitting on their shelf next to their Games Workshop minis. Honestly, the bag trick is solid but it's not like it's the only option out there, felt pouches from craft stores work just as well without the branding.

inWarning: My industrial sewing machine jammed right before a big deadline
Yeah, a buddy of mine @wesley_jones missed a deadline once and lost a whole month's work.

inI roasted vertical gardening as a gimmick until I tried it on my own 8x10 deck
Wow, I actually gotta disagree with you there. Having pots right by the door kept me from forgetting to water them for weeks. Sometimes a little clutter is just a reminder to actually use the stuff you bought.
