Just dropped $85 on a laser level for a small garden wall and it saved me hours of fussing with strings.
The line was perfect for the whole run, so what's your favorite tool that seemed like a splurge but paid off right away?

Ever try a good headlamp for late-night projects, @taylorshah?

Used to think a good tape measure was all you needed. Then I bought a digital angle finder for some tricky trim work. That little screen showing the exact angle saved me from three trips back to the miter saw on the first cut. Now I use it for everything from checking cabinet doors to leveling picture frames. It just takes the guesswork out.

My buddy's fancy drill changed his whole weekend.

Remember how a bad drill makes you avoid simple jobs. His new one probably turned "maybe later" tasks into quick wins, like finally hanging those shelves. That feeling of fixing things fast is its own kind of weekend freedom.
