Thought exercise apps were stupid until I tried one for 30 days straight
I always figured those mindfulness or brain training apps were just a way to charge you $10 a month for stuff you could do for free. But my wife signed me up for one after I kept forgetting where I put my tape measure on jobsites. After 30 days of doing 5 minutes every morning before I head out to a pour in Austin, I actually started remembering little details like client names and specific measurements without writing them down. It sounds dumb but it worked for me. Has anyone else had something like that surprise them after sticking with it for a while?

Man I was the same way. My buddy kept pushing a little app called Elevate on me and I laughed at him for months. Then I started doing the math and memory drills while waiting for my coffee to brew and after a few weeks I noticed I was ADDING UP totals in my head at the grocery store without even trying. It just clicked one day when I realized I hadn't looked at a receipt in like a week. The key for me was doing it when I was half asleep so it felt like no effort at all. Now I actually look forward to those 5 minutes because it wakes my brain up better than any caffeine.

Echoing @mark436 on doing it before you're fully awake, that half asleep state makes it stick way better.

Swear by doing it half asleep too. Started that way with some simple number games and suddenly I was mentally calculating tips before the check even came. It really does just rewire your brain without you realizing it.
