Seeing a big jump in exposed spine binding requests from local artists.

Actually, it might be the rise of craft markets and pop-up shops. Artists need their books to look good on display, and exposed binding shows off the workmanship. That visual appeal could be driving the requests.

That makes a lot of sense about the visual appeal. But I'm curious, does the exposed binding hold up better when people are flipping through them at markets? I've seen some books fall apart after a few shows. Maybe artists are thinking about both looks and function. What do you think, is there a trade off between style and strength?

Honestly @norathomas it's not sudden, it's been building for years. Tbh the trade off is real, some of those bindings look cool but fall apart fast. Ngl I've seen artists pick looks over strength every time at markets. They want that wow factor on the table even if the book won't last. It's a shame because a good binding should do both.

Why the sudden jump?
