The guy at the hardware store who changed how I read thrillers
I was buying paint samples last Tuesday and this older employee just started talking about how he only reads books where the villain gets what's coming to him early. He said he got tired of rooting for bad guys for 300 pages just to see them win. Honestly it hit different because I realized my book club has been stuck on these morally gray novels for months and nobody's enjoying them. Last night I suggested we pick something with a clear good vs evil setup for a change. Has anyone else felt like book clubs get trapped in the same kind of story over and over?

Three book club choices in a row went that way for us last year.

Went that way for us" - are we talking about a book club or a life crisis here lol. I mean, it's just three bad picks, not the end of the world.

Heard someone say book clubs are basically group therapy with snacks. Three bad picks in a row sounds more like a badge of honor than a crisis.
