Our club split over reading the book in one sitting vs. chapter by chapter, and one side was right
We picked a 380 page novel for our library group here in Boise and half of us read it in one gulp while the rest did two chapters a week. The slow group came to the meeting with notes, questions, and a whole theory about the ending, and the fast group mostly just said they liked it. Chapter by chapter won by a mile because people actually remembered who the side characters were and caught stuff we blew past. Now we vote on a reading pace before we pick the book, which sounds fussy but it fixed everything. Does your club set a schedule or do you just show up and hope people finish?
