The difference in weld quality on the new alloy they're using for the big plant in Toledo is wild

We just finished a section of the new steam line there, and the specs called for this new high-chrome alloy. The first few passes with our old settings looked like garbage, full of porosity. We had to crank the heat up by about 15% and slow our travel speed way down. Has anyone else had to adjust their whole technique for this stuff?

Tell me about it. I looked at my first bead on that stuff and thought my machine was broken. Had to eat a whole bag of donuts to feel better about my life choices. Ended up running it so hot and slow I'm pretty sure I could have forged a sword in the puddle.

Yeah, that stuff runs way hotter than you'd think.

Wait, donuts? I thought you had to eat tacos when your weld looks bad. That's the rule.
