Swapped my game night house rules for BGG's recommended variants and cut our play time by 40 minutes

Brought my own card game to a meetup once and someone pulled out a variant from some YouTube video that cut our setup time in half. We spent the first 15 minutes arguing over whether the new rules even counted as the same game anymore. Ended up just playing two rounds of the original way and called it a night.

Did you guys at least keep the original version around in case the new one flopped?

Leave the original rules on a reference card taped to the inside of the box lid. Saves the argument every single time, and you can just flip it over if someone brings up a variant.
