Shoutout to the guy at my local game store who convinced me to try a 4-hour heavy Euro after I swore I'd never play one again.

Watched a friend get talked into a similar game last month. He still hasn't forgiven the guy.

My buddy Jake got roped into a six hour war game last year. You have to check the rulebook length before you agree to anything. A game over thirty pages is a hard pass for new players.

That's the best kind of peer pressure right there. My game group has a guy just like that, and he roped me into a game that took the whole afternoon. Totally get what @knight.felix is saying though, it can really backfire if you pick the wrong game for someone. I ended up loving it, but it was a close call. Those long games are a big commitment and you gotta be in the right headspace.
