Had to choose between a Park Tool stand and a Harbor Freight one for my home setup

I went cheap with the Harbor Freight stand last month and it nearly tipped over with a 30-pound e-bike on it. Lesson learned, has anyone else had a close call with budget stands?

Read somewhere that Park Tool actually designs their stands with a lower center of gravity specifically for stability. Heard a mechanic say the Harbor Freight ones are okay for light bikes like road bikes but anything over 25 pounds gets sketchy pretty fast. Be glad it only tipped over once and didn't dump your bike on the floor. Would rather spend the extra money once than risk a cracked frame or scratched paint.

Wait, are you serious? I would have guessed even cheap stands could handle way more than 25 pounds before getting dicey.

Oh yeah, 25 pounds is definitely the magic number where those cheap stands start feeling wobbly. Learned that the hard way when my old stand nearly sent my touring bike crashing into a toolbox.
