The week my cat went missing and showed back up on day 6

My cat Jasper slipped out the door last Tuesday when I was bringing in groceries, and I spent the next five days posting flyers across three blocks in Austin. Then on Sunday morning at 6 AM, I heard him meowing from the neighbor's old shed where he'd gotten trapped inside. Has anyone else had a pet disappear and just reappear like nothing happened?
