Found a trick for remembering names at my local coffee shop

I kept forgetting customers' names at the Bean & Brew on Main Street, even after serving them for months. Then I started linking their name to their usual order, like 'Mocha Mike' or 'Latte Lisa,' and it clicked instantly. Has anyone else tried associating names with something visual to make them stick?

Bet @sage308 never forgets the name of someone who spells it wrong on the cup.

Not to be that person, but is remembering the names of people at a coffee shop really that big of a deal? They hand you a cup and you walk out the door. Who cares if you call them "sir" or "buddy" instead of their name. Seems like a lot of mental energy for something that doesn't really matter in the long run. Maybe the real trick is just not worrying about it.

@sage308 Totally get where you're coming from, but what worked for me was just saying their name back to them once or twice while ordering. Like if they say "I'm Dave," I'll say "thanks Dave" when they hand me the cup. It takes zero effort and makes the interaction way less awkward for me. Plus, baristas actually seem to appreciate it, so it's a win-win without overthinking it.
