Vent: That time a client brought in a magazine photo and insisted I copy it exactly
So I had this guy come in last Tuesday, right? He plops down in my chair and pulls out this crumpled page from GQ magazine. It was some model with this super specific fade and a hard part that looked like it was drawn with a ruler. I told him straight up that his hair texture was totally different (way thicker and wavy) and that exact look wouldn't sit the same. He kept saying "just do it, man" over and over. I gave it my best shot, explained step by step what I was doing, but after I finished he just stared in the mirror for like 30 seconds, paid without a word, and walked out. Next day he left a 2-star review saying I ruined his haircut. Now I always take a minute to feel the client's hair before I even agree to try a photo copy. Has anyone else had a customer refuse to listen about hair texture and then blame you for it?

Last month I ordered a pizza with extra pepperoni and the guy behind the counter argued with me that I really wanted sausage instead because it was on special. I just stood there and said no, pepperoni, three times before he finally wrote it down. The pizza came out with sausage all over it and he had the nerve to ask why I was upset when I called to complain. Some people just hear what they want to hear no matter how clear you are.

Hold up, are we really blaming the guy for trying to push a deal that saves you money? Look, I get it, you wanted pepperoni, but the dude was probably just trying to help you out and make his numbers look good for the special. If you stood there and said no three times and he still wrote it down wrong, thats on the store for having bad training, not some personal vendetta against you. Plus, think about it - how many people come in, mumble something, then get mad when its exactly what they said? You might think youre clear, but that counter is loud and people zone out. And honestly, if you knew he messed up the order when he wrote it, why not check the receipt or watch him type it in? Thats just common sense. So yeah, the pizza was wrong, but acting like the guy is deaf just because he tried to upsell you is kinda over the top.
