Had my worst day in the chair last Thursday

Three clients in a row canceled on me last Thursday when the weather turned bad. I was sitting there for four hours with no walk-ins either, just watching the rain come down. The only thing that saved the day was a regular who came in for a quick trim and tipped me twenty bucks on a fifteen dollar cut. Any of you guys ever have a whole day just fall apart like that for no good reason?

Honestly, I used to be one of those guys who thought barbers had it easy, like you just show up and the cash rolls in. Tbh I was dead wrong about that. Seeing this post and hearing how a whole day can get wiped out by the weather and cancellations really opened my eyes. Ngl, that regular who came through with the twenty bucks on a tiny trim is the real hero here, that kind of loyalty makes a huge difference. I get now that it's not just about cutting hair, it's about riding out those slow days and hoping the good customers show. That sounds brutal, man, hope the next week makes up for it.

That twenty bucks on a tiny trim hits different when you've been watching the door all day. Tough gig, being a barber. Some days you're the hero, other days you're just a guy with scissors and an empty chair wondering if you accidentally became a weatherman instead. Spencer's probably right that it's not life or death, but when rent is due and the rain kills your walk ins, it sure feels like it for a minute. Hope your guy gets a sunny streak and a full chair next week, that regular sounds like a solid human.

Nah @parker_palmer44, I get what you're saying but you're making it sound like a life or death struggle. It's just haircuts, man.
