Walked into a Chase branch in Miami and saw something that changed my mind about big banks
I went to deposit a check at a Chase in downtown Miami last Tuesday. There was this older guy having trouble with the ATM, so a teller came out and walked him through the whole thing for like 10 minutes. No attitude, no trying to upsell him. I always thought big banks just didn't care about regular people, but that little moment made me rethink. Has anyone else had a surprisingly good experience at a major bank branch?

Oh totally, this resonates so much. I had a thing at a Bank of America in Chicago a few months back. This younger teller spent a full 15 minutes helping my mom figure out why her debit card kept getting declined for a small purchase, and she even called the fraud department to sort it out right there. It was super specific and genuine, like they actually took the time to care instead of just pointing her to a phone number. I still don't love big banks overall, but those little moments do make you wonder if maybe they're not all bad.

That's the thing though @betty_wells, those good moments are almost always a specific person going out of their way, not the bank's actual policy. The system is still designed to make you wait on hold for an hour, it's just that sometimes you get lucky and find one decent employee who ignores the script.
