The paper ledger method I dropped for digital batch payments

I used to write every single vendor payment into a paper ledger by hand on Friday nights (which took me about 2 hours). Last month I switched to my credit union's batch pay feature and knocked it down to 15 minutes with way fewer errors. Has anyone else found a specific digital tool that cut their payment processing time in half?

Used to defend my paper ledger like it was sacred, you know? Thought going digital would make me less organized or something. But then I messed up a payment deadline once and that was it. Took me maybe two Fridays to admit the batch pay was better not worse. Even my wife noticed I wasn't grumbling about vendor tracking anymore. Funny how a little change can make you wonder why you fought it so long.

Your wife noticing is always the real tell, right? Mine acts like she doesn't pay attention to my work stuff, but she totally sees when I stop complaining. That batch pay setup takes some tinkering to get right, but once it clicks it really does free up mental space. I still keep a tiny backup notebook though, just in case. Can't ever fully let go of that paper habit apparently.

Yeah the batch pay thing is a real time saver once you set it up right.
