The 9 PM wire transfer that made me double-check every deadline

I sent a wire at 8:40 PM last Thursday thinking it would land by morning, but the recipient's bank in Chicago didn't process it until 11 AM the next day. Has anyone else found that closing times posted online are way off from what actually happens on the backend?

Cutoff times are basically a suggestion in my experience. I've had luck calling the bank's wire desk directly and asking for their actual internal deadline, which was 3 PM for same day even though the website said 5. Ended up just building in a full extra business day for anything time sensitive, and that's been the only thing that's actually worked.
