Saturday morning at the gas station taught me about RFID blocking wallets
I was pumping gas in Cleveland last Saturday and tapped my debit card on the reader. The payment went through fine, but the reader also beeped twice and showed a $0.50 charge from some random company I never heard of. I looked closer and saw a small skimmer device taped over the real reader with different colored plastic. I cancelled my card right there, filed a dispute with my bank, and they reversed the charge within three days. Now I keep my card in a RFID blocking sleeve I bought for $8 at a local office supply store. Has anyone else gotten hit by a skimmer at a pump and figured out a way to spot them faster?

Yeah I read that tap to pay is actually safer than inserting the chip now.

Honestly yeah I switched to tap only and haven't looked back. Ngl it feels way quicker and I like not touching the machine.
