Just admitted I hate the smell of fresh coffee at my local roastery in Austin

I went to Third Coast Roasters last Tuesday and told the barista their Ethiopian blend smells like burnt tires, and she looked at me like I insulted her whole family. Turns out most people think that smell is amazing, but I actually got a headache from it after 10 minutes. Has anyone else ever hated a universally loved food or drink smell?

Third Coast's Ethiopian is actually one of my favorite roasts, so I really can't relate to the burnt tire comparison.

Pretty sure @fiona_west21 is way too invested in coffee smells, it's just beans.

Fiona needs to calm down. I get it, strong coffee smells can be really overpowering and not in a good way. That burnt tire description made me laugh because I've felt that way about certain dark roasts before. You're not alone in this, some smells just hit people wrong no matter how popular they are.
