Vent: My neighbor in Phoenix said my new patio pavers looked like a 'graveyard'

Just finished laying a big section of gray concrete pavers last weekend. My neighbor, Frank, walked over, stared for a minute, and said 'Looks like a graveyard out here, Harper.' It was totally deadpan. Now I can't unsee it. The whole area just feels flat and sad. Anyone have ideas to break up a big slab of gray pavers without starting over?

Honestly, I love that look! Gray pavers feel clean and modern to me, not sad. You could add some life with big potted plants in bright colors, maybe a red ceramic one. A simple wooden bench or a few outdoor pillows would break up the space. String up some cafe lights for the evening and it'll feel cozy, not flat at all. Frank might just need some new glasses.

Totally agree, we did the same thing with our patio last year. Adding a few big green plants in colorful pots made all the difference. It really warms up the whole space.

Yeah, cafe lights are a game changer! I read they make any outdoor space feel way more inviting at night.
