My new drip line split right at the main connection last Tuesday

I was setting up a small veggie patch in the corner and turned on the water to test it. The whole thing blew apart at the 3/4 inch PVC tee, spraying water everywhere for a good five minutes before I got to the shutoff. I had to redo the whole connection with a heavy duty brass fitting from the local hardware store. Has anyone else had a plastic fitting fail like that right away?

Plastic fittings can be so brittle, right? Had a similar thing happen with a brand new elbow last season.

My garage floor is basically a plastic fitting graveyard after last winter. I swear they crack if you look at them wrong. It's like they're made of hopes and dreams instead of actual plastic.

I always thought the cheap plastic fittings from the hardware store were just fine. Then I had three of them fail in a single cold snap last January, all on the same outdoor spigot line. The plumber who fixed it showed me the difference in wall thickness between those and the better ones. I won't buy the thin ones anymore, not for anything that might see a freeze.
