Just swapped my gravel path for decomposed granite. Night and day difference.

I put in a gravel path two years ago and hated it. Every time we had a big rain, the stones washed out into the lawn and I spent hours raking them back. Last month I tore it out and put down 3 inches of decomposed granite with a plate compactor. After a heavy downpour last week, the path held up perfectly. Anyone else made the switch and wish they had done it sooner?

Honestly, @phoenix246 probably needs a medal for not losing their mind raking pea gravel every storm.

Decomposed granite is the way to go! I swapped out a pea gravel walkway last spring and the difference is unreal, no more rocks scattered across the yard after every storm. Compacting it properly makes all the difference, it stays put even in heavy rain.

Ha! I feel personally attacked by that pea gravel story.
