My paver pathway got way more uneven in just 2 months

Put in a brick pathway last spring and it looked perfect. After one rainy winter and some freeze-thaw cycles, half the bricks are already sinking or tilting. Anyone else have their hardscape settle faster than they expected?

Did you put down a proper gravel base before laying the bricks? I've found that skipping the compacted base (even with good intentions) is almost always the reason things shift that fast. A few extra inches of crushed stone and a plate compactor would have saved you all this headache.

You're spot on with that. I've been there myself (learned the hard way on a little walkway that looked fine for maybe one season before turning into a roller coaster). The extra time and effort upfront with the plate compactor feels like overkill until you see the alternative. It's a bummer when good intentions and skipped steps lead to tearing everything up again later.

Learned the hard way" hits home, doesn't it?
