TIL why I switched my stance on crimp connectors for avionics wiring
I used to prefer soldering, but crimping turned out to be tougher against shakes and bumps.

Well, corrosion usually points to bad seals, not the crimp method. Done right with good tools, they're actually very reliable.

What, you trust crimps in a plane?

My buddy's an A&P mechanic and he showed me a panel from a regional jet once... half the crimps were green with corrosion. Said they found it during a routine check, whole bundle had to be redone. Makes you wonder what slips through sometimes. He won't even get on certain budget airlines now without a couple drinks first.
