My handheld multimeter gave ghost readings on a 737 last Thursday

I was tracing a intermittent fault in the weather radar system on a 737-800 and my trusty Fluke 87 started showing 28 volts where there should have been nothing. Turns out the test lead was frayed right at the probe base (the kind of break you can't see). Swapped leads and everything read perfect. Has anyone else had a simple cable issue waste hours of troubleshooting time?

Had a similar issue with a Fluke probe on a Cessna 172 last month.

Respectfully disagree - we had that issue once. It's just cable wear.

Oh gosh, it's funny how people jump to the simplest explanation first... that's just how we're wired I guess, always wanting the easy fix.
