Swapped from 3M to SATA primer guns on a hunch

My buddy swore by the 3M guns but after fighting orange peel on a silver Tacoma for three hours I tried his old SATA and laid down a much cleaner coat in half the time, anyone else have a brand switch that actually paid off?

Did you read that testing article comparing the two?

That gelling issue you hit with the 3M is actually pretty common when the humidity shifts. The SATA has a better air cap design that atomizes the paint more evenly in moist conditions. Nobody talks enough about how a gun handles environmental changes, just the spray pattern on a dry test panel. The 3M is fine in a climate controlled booth but real world shops have open doors and fans blowing. Another thing is the trigger pull weight. The SATA lets you feather it more naturally so you can adjust your flow on the fly without choking up.

You ever notice how a lot of things just work amazing in perfect conditions but fall apart the second real life shows up? Throw a bit of humidity or a drafty shop at them and it's a whole different story.
