Appreciation post: Saw a flawless black pearl respray on a classic Mustang at the Pigeon Forge car show
The paint was so deep you could practically swim in it, and the body lines were razor sharp with zero orange peel. The owner said the shop spent over 80 hours blocking it before color. What's the most hours you've ever put into blocking a single panel for a show car finish?

Honestly, @the_wyatt is right about the chase for perfect paint. Tbh, it makes me think of my neighbor who spent a whole summer just blocking the roof on his old truck. He'd be out there every weekend, and I swear he went through more guide coat powder than I've seen in my life. Never did get it to a car show though.

Reminds me of how we're all chasing that perfect surface now, even on daily drivers. I see guys wet sanding brand new factory paint to get that glassy look. We've gotten so used to seeing flawless work online that "good enough" just doesn't cut it anymore.

My old Camry had orange peel you could see from space and I never cared. But after reading what @the_wyatt said, I get it now. Seeing all those perfect reflections online really does mess with your idea of what's okay.
