Tried stacking my star photos from the local dark site last weekend...

I spent 4 hours driving 90 miles out to that dark spot by Payson just to get all my frames ruined by a passing cloud bank after midnight. Has anyone else had a whole night of shooting wiped out by weather you didn't see coming?

That "all my frames ruined" line hit me hard, because I had almost the exact same thing happen last August up near Flagstaff. I was so stoked about the Milky Way core being perfectly positioned and then this thin layer of high altitude haze rolled in around 1 AM, totally killing the contrast. Took me like two hours to pack up and drive home in the dark, feeling completely defeated (and maybe a little sorry for myself). On the bright side, I did get a few decent shots of the moon setting behind some trees that I wouldn't have had otherwise, but yeah, it stings.

Ugh, isn't it always the one night you plan for weeks that the sky decides to play tricks on you.
