My brand new telescope mount failed 20 minutes into my first night out at Big Bear Lake.
Was all set for some deep sky shots and the declination motor just locked up completely, any ideas on what could cause a brand new mount to seize like that out of the box?

@ray356 it's the curse of expecting anything new to work on the first try.

Classic Big Bear curse strikes again.

...wait, did someone actually slip on the ice again? I thought they fixed the drainage issue near the main entrance but I guess not. Was it the same spot by the south gate where that guy busted his knee last winter?

Real talk, is this really that big of a deal? I mean a seized motor on a brand new mount sucks, sure, but sometimes it's just a little factory grease or a cable pinched in a weird spot (happens more than you'd think). Could be something as simple as loosening a screw or wiping off excess lube, not exactly a full blown disaster. Feels like people are way too quick to call it a curse or a total failure, when in reality it might just be a five minute fix.
