Old dig site turned into a parking lot, saw a guy digging there anyway

I drove past a site I worked on near Tucson back in 2010 and they paved it over. There was one old professor standing at the edge with a trowel in his hand, just staring at the asphalt. He said "they can pour concrete but they can't bury what we already found." Anyone else run into someone like that?

yeah that hits different bc they literally paved over history

Is "paved over history" really that deep or just people getting dramatic about construction?
