TIL why smart ovens are calling me at 3 AM

Got a service call for an oven that was sending error texts to the owner's phone. Turns out it was just confused by a power flicker, but the owner thought it was haunted.

Used to laugh at people who worried about smart home stuff, but my fridge once started playing radio stations after a storm. Now I get why they seem possessed sometimes.

Hey, didn't I read about smart fridges acting up after power surges? They'd start beeping for no reason or something...

Sounds more like bad programming than ghosts. These things just freak out over nothing sometimes.

Actually read an article about smart appliances getting their clocks messed up after power blips. They said the oven's little computer tries to reset but gets stuck in a loop, sending alerts at weird hours. Makes sense why it would pick 3 AM, that's when the system tries to do its daily check-in. Kind of funny that tech meant to make things easier just ends up scaring people half to death.
