My work van hit 300,000 miles this morning and I felt weird about it

I was driving to a call for a fridge that wouldn't cool and saw the odometer roll over. That van has been my shop for 12 years, hauling parts and tools all over the county. I bought it with 60,000 miles on it, and we've been through a lot of belts, a few transmissions, and more oil changes than I can count. It's not just a number, it's every service call, every late night, and every time I had to fix it myself on the side of the road. The funny thing is, the van itself is an appliance I'm always fixing. Has anyone else had a main tool or vehicle hit a big number that made you stop and think about the job?

Used to think high mileage just meant a beat up vehicle. Reading this makes me see it different. That's not just wear and tear, it's proof you did the job right for over a decade. All those roadside fixes are like the van's own service record.

What's the one repair you did on the side of the road that you remember the most, where you just knew the van had to get you home?

My old service truck hit 250k before it finally gave up. That number was a full record of every house call and roadside repair. You just don't get that kind of history with a new truck, do you?
