Can we talk about the waste from washing machines with sealed parts?
I'm fed up with how many washing machines get thrown out over one broken part. Just yesterday, I had a model with a sealed tub that you can't open without breaking it. The fix costs more than a new machine, so it goes in the trash. This is common now with stuff made to not be repaired. It piles up in landfills and hurts the environment. It also makes our work as fixers feel useless. We need better designs so things last longer.

LG's front-loader models often hide the drain pump filter behind that little kickplate at the bottom.

That sealed tub design is a real headache for repairs. Check online for service manuals or forums where people share workarounds for specific models. Have you had any luck finding hidden fasteners on these machines?

Dealt with a similar issue last year on my dryer, had to take the whole thing apart just to get at the drum. Ended up finding these sneaky clips under the control panel, totally missed them at first. Spent an hour cursing at the thing before I realized I was using the wrong screwdriver. Funny how the simplest tools can make or break a repair job. Those forums saved my skin though, someone posted a video showing exactly where to press to release the tabs.
