My neighbor's 'zero waste' bin is full of plastic clamshells

He puts them out for pickup every Tuesday, but our city's recycling program specifically says they don't accept that type of plastic. I know because I called the waste department last month after my own bin got a rejection sticker. It feels like a lot of green efforts are just moving trash around without fixing the real problem. Does anyone else see stuff like this that makes the whole 'feel good' recycling seem pointless?

Ever ask him why he still puts them in there?

My dad still uses the plastic produce bags at the store. It's like a reflex people have even when they know better.

I used to think that way too, but seeing how much plastic actually gets trashed changed my mind.
