My neighbor said air fryer chicken wings are always dry

I heard him talking over the fence yesterday and he was totally convinced you can't get a good wing from an air fryer. I've been making them for my crew's lunch every Friday for about 6 months now, so I told him my method: 180 degrees for 12 minutes, then crank it to 400 for 8 more, tossing halfway. They come out perfect. Has anyone else found a better temp/time combo for wings?

Your neighbor's air fryer might just need a deep clean. Built up grease in the bottom can mess with the airflow and cooking. @the_jana is right that the gadget itself matters. A dirty one or a cheap model with weak fans will give dry results every time. Maybe his method is fine but his machine is fighting him.

Honestly who cares that much about a neighbor's wing opinion. If yours are good for your crew then the method works, end of story. People get weirdly intense about cooking gadgets like it's some kind of sport. Your temps sound fine, I do something similar. Maybe he just has a bad air fryer or doesn't know how to use it.

Yeah, it's just wings. Some people treat their kitchen tools like a religion.

Saw a food blog say 375 for 20 mins with a toss, @phoenixw11.
