Unpopular opinion: That meal kit subscription I tried for 3 months was a straight up scam
I signed up for one of those meal kit boxes because I was tired of grocery store chaos. I spent $240 over 3 months and realized I was paying for fancy packaging and tiny portions. The chicken breast I got on week 2 had a weird smell, I cooked it anyway and felt sick after. The recipes took 45 minutes every night, not the 30 they claimed. By month 3 I was throwing half the ingredients in the trash because I couldn't keep up with the schedule. Who else got burned by one of these things?

Straight up scam" is putting it lightly... I called their customer service when my chicken had that weird smell and they offered me a $5 coupon. Like... cool, now I can buy more questionable meat from them? I spent way too much time chopping vegetables for meals that were basically glorified Lunchables with extra steps. The tiny portions were the real kicker though, I was legit hungry 20 minutes after eating one of those meals. And they kept sending me boxes even after I tried to pause my subscription twice. Ended up just telling my credit card to block them.

Wait, they literally kept sending you boxes after you tried to pause it? That's wild. And then your credit card had to step in and block them? I had a similar thing where I canceled two weeks before my next delivery and they still charged me, then acted all confused about it. The whole $5 coupon thing is such a joke too. Like, here's a discount on the thing that made you sick, go ahead and eat more of it. And you're right about the portions, I remember eating one of their "hearty" bowls and then immediately making a sandwich because I was still hungry. They really thought an ounce of chicken and some rice was gonna fill me up.

Oh come ON you guys are being WAY too harsh. I've been getting HelloFresh for like eight months straight and never had a single issue. That "wet sock" chicken thing? @skyler_jackson27 probably left it in the fridge too long or something because mine has always been fresh. And the portions? I'm a grown man and those "hearty" bowls fill me up just fine. Maybe you're just used to restaurant size portions that are way too big for anyone's health. Plus that whole credit card thing sounds like user error to me. You gotta actually call and cancel not just hit a button online. Their customer service has always been super nice to me.

Worth mentioning too how they push that whole "chef crafted" angle to make you feel like you're paying for quality when really you're paying for their marketing budget. All those fancy words on the box don't mean much when your chicken smells like a wet sock.
