Just realized I've been lying to myself about being 'fine' with my job
My friend Sarah asked me point blank last Thursday, 'What would you do if you weren't scared of the money part?' and I just froze for a full minute. I've been telling everyone, including myself, that my office job is 'stable and fine' for years, but her question cut right through that. What's a small, real step you've taken towards something you actually wanted, even if it was scary?

What if the money part is the real point though?

That's a good point from violar35, because sometimes the money really is the only goal. But then you have to ask what the money is for. If it's just to see a bigger number, that feeling wears off fast. You end up stuck in a job you hate, buying things to feel better about being there. Isn't that just trading your time for stuff you don't even have the energy to enjoy?

Ever watch someone chase a promotion they didn't even want? My friend worked herself sick for a director title, got the big salary bump, and was miserable within six months. She finally admitted she just liked the idea of the "win" and the number in her bank account. The actual job made her hate Sundays. So yeah, sometimes the money is the whole point, but that point can be pretty hollow if you're trading your peace for it.
