inMy brother in law said the moon landing was faked in a diner in Omaha and I actually listened
Why do we only question the moon but never who really runs the gas station?

inA 30 year hand told me my rolled tube welds looked "machine made" and that was not a compliment
Wait, a 30 year hand watched you lay a pass and still said it looked too clean? That part blows my mind. I would have taken that as a compliment at 2nd year too, no question. The toe tie in thing is real though, a pretty bead with no bite at the edges is just a crack waiting on a heat cycle. Gary boiler jobs don't play around either.

inMy best friend of 9 years asked me to cosign a $12,000 loan in March, and I walked out of the diner
Never cosign, that paper turns friends into debt collectors real quick.

inMy uncle in Tacoma said nobody at his funeral will mention his job, and it's been bugging me for 3 weeks
My dad did something like this a few years back, not at a fence but over a beer. He told me he wanted his headstone to just say "he was kind" and nothing about his 30 years at the phone company. That one stuck with me too, and what helped was actually writing stuff down. I made a little list of the things I do that have nothing to do with work, like coaching my kid's soccer team and calling my mom every Sunday, and just seeing it on paper made me feel less weird about it. Your uncle sounds like a solid guy, and honestly the fact that you're still chewing on this 3 weeks later says something about you too. Maybe next time you see him, tell him you've been thinking about that list, I bet he'd get a kick out of it.
