PSA: My yearbook flip at a reunion created a weird silence
I took my old high school yearbook to a class meet-up thinking it would be fun. We were all looking at the pictures and laughing about how young we looked. Then I opened to a page where I had written a really goofy note to someone I liked back then. The note was full of silly jokes and dumb feelings I had forgotten about. Turns out, that person was now dating another friend from our group, and they were both right there. Everyone stopped talking for a bit, and it got pretty uncomfortable. I mean, it was my fault for not checking what was in there first. So maybe give your old stuff a quick look before you bring it out around people.

My high school in 2010 had this exact vibe. It's weird how we carry these little time bombs from our past selves without even knowing. I see it now with old text message backups, not just yearbooks. You don't realize how much you've actually grown until some old feeling just pops up in your hands. It makes everyone stop and remember a person who doesn't really exist anymore.

Nothing like a blast from the past to kill the vibe.

Remember that time capsule trend where people dug up old social media posts? @flores.patricia, I did that and found a status from 2012 full of bad song lyrics. I had to delete it fast because it was so embarrassing. Now I totally get why checking your old stuff first is a good move.

Oh man, I always flip through my old stuff now before sharing! Learned that the hard way with a diary entry. A quick check saves you from surprise awkwardness.
