How a daily nod to my porch neighbor brightened my outlook

Honestly, I used to just walk past his house every morning without looking. But he's always there on his porch, and we started nodding to each other. One day, he actually said good morning and asked about the rain. Tbh, that small exchange felt really nice and got me thinking. Now, I see those little nods as a quiet way we say we're here for each other. It's not a deep chat, but it makes the street feel more like home. Ngl, it's shown me how ordinary hellos can build a real sense of community.

My buddy's neighbor started leaving tomatoes on his step after their nods. Now they trade veggies. Whole thing started with a wave.

Watch out or you'll be having full blown porch chats. Mine now judges my recycling BIN.

Noticed my neighbor always wears this bright yellow hat when he gardens. We never talk, but I started timing my coffee break to watch him putter around. It's weirdly peaceful, like our own quiet routine without saying a word. Kinda makes the morning feel more settled.

Yeah that "quiet way we say we're here" bit. It's real. Those tiny connections add up. Makes the whole day a bit better.
