Why does nobody talk about how bad windshield wipers are in the rain?

I was driving home on I-5 near Seattle last Tuesday during a downpour, and my wipers left so many streaks I could barely see the brake lights ahead. It hit me that everyone complains about drivers in rain but nobody calls out how cheap and useless most wiper blades actually are. Has anyone else noticed how much a decent set of $20 Bosch blades changes everything?

why cheap and useless most wiper blades actually are" couldn't be more on point. I grabbed a set of Rain-X ones after dealing with the same streaks on I-5 last month and they actually cleared up the smear mess pretty fast.

Last Tuesday on I-5 near Tacoma my wipers were so bad I actually said out loud to nobody in the car "maybe I should just pull over and let the rain finish the job." They were leaving these weird greasy trails that made every streetlight look like a bad watercolor painting. I finally broke down and got those Bosch ones you mentioned and the difference was honestly embarrassing. Like I had been driving around half blind for two years because I was too cheap to spend an extra ten bucks. Now I feel like I should send apology letters to everyone whose bumper I followed too close in the rain.

Oh man that watercolor description is way too real. It's funny how we just get used to stuff like that being bad until we finally fix it and realize we were putting up with nonsense for way too long. I think it's the same with a bunch of things in life, like how I had this squeaky door hinge for like a year and a half and just learned to tune it out until my friend visited and was like "how do you live like this" and I fixed it in five minutes and felt like an idiot. We just accept the mediocre version of things because changing it feels like a hassle, even when the payoff is immediate.
