Overheard a guy at the hardware store say 'measure twice, cut once' and it clicked for more than woodworking
I was at Lowe's last Saturday picking up paint and this older guy told his kid that phrase while grabbing a board. I realized I rush into everything from cooking to budgeting without checking my steps first. Anyone else find a simple saying that changed how you approach non related stuff?

...and I swear that phrase has been rattling around in my head every time I do something dumb like pouring milk before checking if we have cereal left. My wife laughs at me now because I'll be halfway through starting the dishwasher and she'll see me stop and go "measure twice, cut once" under my breath. It's so simple but it actually works for stuff like planning dinner (do I really have all the ingredients or am I just gonna burn the garlic again?). I've even started applying it to arguments honestly, like taking a second to think before I say something stupid to her about whose turn it is to take out the trash. Funny how a woodworking tip from a random dad at Lowe's can save you from burning dinner and starting a fight in the same weekend.

Funny how fixing cabinets and fixing your marriage use the same basic principle.

Hold on, is this REALLY that deep? You're comparing wood cabinets to something as messy and emotional as a marriage. I think you're overthinking a simple household task.
