Can we talk about how my local park's upgrade funded by municipal bonds?
Public projects like this are intro to fixed income.

Look at how bonds work for park upgrades. It's intro to fixed income in real life. Pretty neat way to fund community stuff, right?

Not so neat when the splash pad rusts shut before the bonds mature, Brian.

Classic muni bond story right here. Brian741 talked up how neat it was. Now we've got a rusted shut splash pad. Bonds mature slower than the maintenance schedule. Seen it before with that playground renovation downtown. Funding community fun, but the fun's on hold indefinitely.

That new splash pad funded by muni bonds has been "temporarily closed for maintenance" since June. Real life fixed income lessons usually involve waiting longer for less fun than advertised. It's community building, just slowly and with more rusted bolts.
