Shop dreams vs. practical skills: which one actually sticks?
I used to dream about running my own Etsy shop selling handmade pottery. Spent $300 on a wheel and kiln last spring. But after 6 months I quit because I realized I just liked the idea of being creative, not the actual hours of messy work. On the other hand, I had a smaller dream to learn basic car maintenance, and after one weekend changing my oil and a tire in my driveway, I felt more accomplished. Now I wonder if big dreams are overrated compared to small practical ones. Has anyone else found that their practical skills stuck while the big creative dreams fizzled out?

Gotta disagree a little here. Dreams are what keep you going when things get rough, even if you never reach the biggest one. Settling for small goals is fine, but having something big to aim for gives you direction.
