I quit trying to learn Spanish, but a tiny daily habit flipped that around

For years, I wanted to speak Spanish well enough to travel without a phrasebook. I dropped out of a night class because it felt like too much work all at once. Then my friend showed me how she uses short audio lessons during her commute. I tried just listening for ten minutes each morning on my way to work. Hearing real conversations slowly made the words stick, like greetings or simple jokes. Now I see that giving up was just me being scared of the big picture. I'm starting to believe I can actually do this, bit by bit.

Hey, exactly! I did the same thing with French in the car. After a few months, I just picked up more than I ever did in a class.

But does just listening in the car actually teach you the grammar or how to speak? Feels like you might pick up phrases, but trying to have a real conversation seems like a whole different level.

No way you said giving up was just being scared, that's wild lol. Most people blame busy schedules or bad memory, but admitting it's fear hits different. Your friend's commute trick is smart though, makes it less scary when it's just background noise at first. Honestly I might try that with Italian, because big classes make me panic too. The part about simple jokes sticking makes sense, it's not just grammar rules floating in your head.
