Threw away a half-full container of Greek yogurt because it was one day past the sell-by date
I stood there in the kitchen last night for a solid 5 minutes trying to decide if I should eat it or toss it, and I ended up throwing it out because the thought of food poisoning wasn't worth the $3.50, but now I'm wondering how much perfectly good food I've wasted over the years has anyone else gotten more paranoid about expiration dates lately?

I sniffed some milk three days past the date last week and it was fine so I drank it lol no regrets. Honestly you probably would have been okay with that yogurt.

Ask yourself this though - would you have eaten it if you knew it was actually three weeks past, not three days? There's a big difference between pushing it a little and rolling the dice on something that's been sitting around for almost a month. Yogurt texture and smell can be tricky too, you know, sometimes it looks fine but the bacteria load is already high. Did you actually taste yours before eating or just go by the sniff test? I feel like people get way too casual about dairy dates and end up with food poisoning thinking they're being brave.

That sniff test people rely on isn't always reliable, I read somewhere that some bacteria don't have a smell at first. But yeah @violaramirez you probably got lucky with that milk, I've done the same thing before. For me it depends on how desperate I am for the yogurt.
