Realized last week I've been folding fitted sheets wrong my whole life

Honestly, I was just trying to put laundry away at my sister's place in Tacoma. I've been doing the whole ball it up and stuff it in the linen closet thing for 30 years. But last week she showed me this weird method where you tuck the corners into each other and then fold it flat. It took like 2 minutes and the sheet actually looked like a square. Ngl, I felt kind of dumb but also really relieved. Has anyone else had that moment where you find out a basic life skill you thought you had down is totally off?

Hold up... is folding fitted sheets really a "life skill" that matters? I've been balling mine up since I moved out of my parents' place and honestly my bed still gets made every morning. Nobody's ever come into my bedroom, pulled open my linen closet, and judged me for having a wrinkled sheet in there. Seems like one of those things people stress about just so they can feel superior at family gatherings... but who's actually checking your linen closet?

Honestly, I gotta disagree. I tried that neat folding method once and it looked all nice and perfect, but then I couldn't figure out how to get it back on the mattress without it looking like a total wrinkled mess. Ngl, I'll take my balled up lump over fighting with it every time I change the sheets.

Well, that reminds me of my buddy Tom who spent a whole afternoon folding a fitted sheet perfectly after watching a YouTube tutorial, then just gave up and threw it in the closet still in a ball. He said it's like trying to fold a spider web.
