I finally tried the 'five minute rule' for my dishes instead of letting them pile up

The sink used to be full by evening, but now I just wash things right after I use them (like my coffee mug this morning). It feels silly, but my kitchen has been clean for three straight days. Anyone else have a tiny habit that made a big difference?

Three straight days" feels like we're setting the bar pretty low for a life changing habit. It's just dishes, not a meditation retreat. I get it helps, but calling it a big difference seems like a stretch for putting a mug in the sink right away.

I used to have the same view, that it was too small to matter. But letting a single mug sit out became a pile of plates, then a counter full of clutter. That visual mess made me feel behind before the day even started. Washing that one thing right away breaks the cycle. It sounds silly, but that clean space actually changes my mood in the morning.

You think it's just about the mug?

It's just a mug though lol. People are acting like washing one dish is some huge life hack.
